Extremely low weight, large props for such a low weight and the smallest motor that can spin that prop with good control. The pudding is in the details however and we spent months intensely testing everything just to find out that what we’re looking for doesn’t exist! So we started making custom parts. There is a lot in how it’s setup as well but that’s better left to the video than writing pages on pages...\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eStarting with the prop, we knew what we wanted but it didn’t exist. Having a good relationship with Gemfan, we carefully crafted a prop together and they got working on manufacturing. With the prop in mind, we then tested custom motor products from just about every known company out there before landing on a couple of gems...that only became good with numerous revisions. Other manufacturers will figure it out and give us more options in time but the two we have now are stellar. Given the crazy performance we were after, the frame also needed to be reimagined to perform and hold up to a new level of punishment. Next, we had to solve the annoyance with whoop boards and how difficult they were to solder. FullSpeed and BetaFPV were instrumental in the execution of the redesign and we now have two great options in case one runs into QC or reliability issues. The rest of the build is arbitrary but we prefer just a basic camera and Vtx to keep the weight down.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePerformance wise, this thing is FAST. FAST fast. There are probably other things in this size class that are faster in a straight line, but that's not what we mean by fast. It’s like flying a laser pointer, it just does EXACTLY what you want it to do with absolute precision. Throttle control is also exquisite. It's a bit difficult to explain all the performance in words but when you fly one, you'll understand. The performance profile on a low weight load out also fits a Betaflight stock tune with just a little more TPA.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDurability is one area that may be in question and is where we need to put a little bit of a disclaimer on this style build. When built to top spec on 3S, this thing is VERY FAST and INSANELY AGILE. This build is designed for advanced pilots but it doesn’t mean that it’s weak or not for beginners. That’s actually far from true. The frame is quite robust, motors are quality built and even the prop shaft is beefed up. When you first learn to ski or snowboard, you fall. You fall a LOT. It hurts. As you improve, you learn how to fall. Pro level athletes do amazing things and also know how to fall amazingly well. As an FPV pilot, you learn how not to break your equipment….or, balls to the wall and you know you’re going to break it and are okay with it. To achieve this level of performance, high durability has been replaced with repairability. It definitely still takes quite a bit of force to break an arm. The extremely low weight means that if you’re a beginner and running 2S, it’ll be quite difficult to break. Unfortunately, even with the genuine FPVCycle 2203 3450kv motor, you will still have some washout in extreme situations and minor yaw lock problems in gusty or confined environments such as a narrow corridor\/hallway. The V3 Ducts fix most of these issues and are a bolt on replacement for the original ducts. If you are an experienced FPV pilot with developed fine motor control skills in this area, you will appreciate the V3 Ducts quite a bit. If you are novice to intermediate level, you’ll definitely notice a difference but it may not be quite as significant to you.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eCompared to a typical Cinewhoop with your standard issue ~1506 and any prop, this platform running FPVCycle 2203 3450kv and the V2 ducts is dramatically improved. The motors account for about 75% of that improvement.  Dropping the standoff height to 25mm is just icing on the cake if you care to do so\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNote: Tge ducts do NOT fit the frame perfectly on purpose. When screwed into place the ducts are held under tension and are somewhat oval. When fresh props are inserted, they will rub against that walls of that duct. Arm the quad and get the props spinning, then hover for a few seconds to allow them to grind into place. It will be loud during this process and then it will quiet down considerably. This sort of fit actually improves efficiency a but but more importantly, reduces overall vibrations in the system because it's all held under tension. It has been shown across many research studies to be very healthy for oral and upper respiratory health.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e- Fine grit dentifrice\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eDentifrice is sand\/silica. It exists in toothpaste merely as an abrasive to help scrub off plaque and calculus. Teeth and gums are very fragile despite the insane forces they undertake when chewing. Many 'whitening' toothpastes contain highly abrasive dentifrice because it actually sands off a layer of your tooth structure and destroy your gums which can make teeth look a tiny bit whiter at the expense of their demise. Nothing like this will happen in one or two brushings but over months and years, it can demolish your teeth, gums and bone architecture depending on your brushing habits. You don't want the abrasive to be too harsh but you also cannot have zero abrasive because it makes brushing properly more difficult. A fine grit with low abrasiveness is the solution and very few common toothpastes you'll find have a fine grit.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e- It does NOT have the following:\u003c\/strong\u003e triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), parabens\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis is a big one. Triclosan is an antibiotic preservative that is used in products to prevent contamination but it interferes with the body's thyroid hormone which can cause very bad things. Sodium lauryl sulfate is a chemical added to nearly all shampoos, toothpastes and anything that 'froths'. It's a chemical that makes the user feel like the product is frothing up and doing it's job. In reality, it irritates skin, eyes and lungs and can cause very severe hyperreactive episodes if you become sensitized to it. Last but not least, parabens are preservatives that interfere with hormone production in your body which is also very bad.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e- Cranberry extract\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe TL\/DR of this is that it prevents the adhesion of bacteria to oral tissues. It's a minor thing but effective at doing it's job\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eNow lets talk about Fluoride:\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFluoride is a naturally occurring mineral which has several benefits to humans when used appropriately. I'll summarize a few benefits. Fluoride kills bacteria on it's own. It also gets incorporated into tooth structure that makes it much stronger and harder to dissolve by bacteria. When bacteria do manage to dissolve it, the Fluoride is released and kills bacteria. Having a very low amount of fluoride in the body will also get incorporated into bones which makes them stronger and has shown to reduce the incidence of hip fracture in the elderly among others. There are some other benefits as well but I'd like to also point out that fluoride is found in all natural water sources at some concentration, a wide variety of rocks and lots of plants which means tea is a good source of fluoride. Now on to the rest of the discussion.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThere is much debate over the use of fluoride in society but I haven't seen any convincing research which shows any fluoride toothpaste to harm the human biology when used correctly. For issues to arise, an adult would need to ingest (swallow into your stomach and intestines) at least 2-3 entire tubes (depending on your weight) of any over the counter toothpaste daily for days to weeks in a row in order to begin having any issues. Under normal use, toothpaste is not swallowed and an adult spits out more than 99% of it during normal brushing.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe fluoride free 'movement' and marketing is entirely nonsense that is merely corporate America taking advantage of the misinformation which has lead to many people choosing to avoid Fluoride....which is impossible because it's all around us. On this same note, I would like to point out that Fluoride is considered poisonous in high concentrations but so is alcohol, many foods and even water if you have too much of it. To be abundantly clear, Wikipedia, a pretty decent source of information, says that a ~150lb person would need to consume 5-10 grams of Fluoride for it to be lethal. One entire tube of toothpaste contains 0.343 grams of Fluoride. This means that you need to swallow 14-29 tubes of toothpaste all at once to die.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis was a short and fragmented summary of just a few ideas around fluoride. Ultimately it's up to you but having been through my set of experiences and having treated many many of thousands of patients across a decade, I'm completely convinced that the use and deployment of fluoride in society is probably the single most effective measure against dental disease that can be done. Even on a perfect frame structure, there will still be plenty of vibrational noise for the flight code to manage.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe primary goal of this design, on top of everything we've done in the past, is to provide a more reliable build. We have shipped more than 30,000 frames over the past eight years and noted feedback from thousands of users. Common issues become painfully obvious with that kind of volume. One of the less common issues is vibrational complications coupled with electronic noise that make managing a build frustrating. Eliminating that issue is what we mean when we say a 'more reliable' build. If you build 10 of the same quad, we want them all to fly more or less the same (if you're less experienced, two of the same quad don't always fly the same).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat you'll find is that this frame has no significant resonance frequency below ~250hz. As stated above, this does not mean you won't get any resonance below that, it just means that it's very unlikely to be coming from the frame. This will bring out the best performance in your quad with as minimal effort as possible.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eFurthermore, the arms of this structure use a custom layup of carbon to better work with the two piece 'A' arm strut structure. In the past, various layups have been considered but after some testing, they were found not to have much improvement at all and were just more expensive. In these arms, we've traded ALL the 90deg sheets for 45deg sheets. The carbon engineers said this wouldn't work because the tension on the sheet would make the entire sheet bow. They were right about that and it did bow just a bit but it still works for this specific design because each strut is so skinny it doesn't matter. This custom carbon improved the vibrational performance by ~6-8% but also made the arms stronger so it was worth keeping. Also, the arm strut design is so efficient to manufacture that the increased cost of the custom carbon is managed. It also makes it especially cost effective to replace just half an arm if you crack off one of the toes in the front. The difference can be as significant as going from completely un-flyable mess to beautifully flyable. More commonly it's just a minor improvement and only if you're at least somewhat versed in tuning filters. To those that don't burden themselves with tuning, there may not be any benefit other than consistency of performance across several builds. Other damping options such as electrical tape, TPU or some other solid material are only sometimes helpful and only on some quad builds (YMMV). Damping grease will improve ALL quads resonance profile without exception. The difference is that grease is a liquid and tape or some other material is a solid. Solids have elasticity while liquids do not. In fact if electrical tape helps, it's the sticky liquid glue attached to the solid electrical tape that is doing the work. The solid component of the tape is making it worse because it has elasticity. Regardless, if you're looking for performance improvements, vibration management and reducing filters are the easiest way to go. At this point it is recommended to use some sort of damping grease on every build because of how significant the benefits can be. One of the biggest annoyances is getting the props out of the camera view at low camera tilt without destroying flight performance. In order to achieve this, most designs either have a super tall build height, move the camera way way forward or the frame is enormous and the GoPro sits between the front blades. Any of these methods will significantly compromise weight, weight distribution and control performance. But it is what it is, no? While it definitely is what it is, with this design we’ve carefully positioned the GoPro as close to the CG as possible such that you will get a bit of prop in view at low 20deg GoPro Hero angles but after software stabilization, there ‘should’ be no props in view.
