🛠️ How to Wire and Use SMD 1206 Pre-Wired LED Diodes for FPV Whoops

 

1. Gather Your Parts

  • SMD 1206 pre-wired LED diodes

  • Appropriate resistors (see chart below)

  • Wire harness or soldering tools

  • Heatshrink or tape (optional, for strain relief)

💡 Resistor Quick Guide:

  • 21Ω (1/4W): White, Blue, Ice Blue, Green, Pink, UV

  • 51Ω (1/4W): Yellow, Red, Orange

  • 240Ω: For balancing mixed-color setups (e.g., Orange + White).

2. Single-Color Harness Setup

  • For a 4-LED harness of a single color, just use 21Ω or 51Ω depending on the LED color.

  • Example: 4x Red LEDs = 51Ω resistor inline with the power lead.

3. Multi-Color Setup

  • Each color needs its own resistor value.

  • Example: White + Orange harness

    • White → 240Ω resistor

    • Orange → 51Ω resistor

  • This balances brightness and prevents premature burnout.

4. Soldering Instructions

  1. Identify polarity: The longer lead (or marked wire) is positive (+).

  2. Connect resistor inline with the positive lead before power.

  3. Solder LEDs in parallel if using multiple per harness.

  4. Insulate connections with heatshrink or tape to avoid shorts.

5. Testing Your LEDs

  • Apply power (1S–2S LiPo depending on your setup).

  • Confirm brightness and color.

  • If mixing colors, check that none overpower the others — adjust resistors if needed.

6. Installing on Your Whoop

  • Mount LEDs under canopy, on arms, or in custom spots.

  • Secure with tape, glue, or zip ties — just avoid props!

  • Power from flight controller pads, external harness, or dedicated LED rail.

  • Use resistors matched to color to avoid LED failure.

  • For racing, consider mixing orientation colors (e.g., Red rear, White front).

  • Keep wiring clean to avoid added weight or snag points.

Flight Controller / VTX Warranty Policy
 
At weBLEEDfpv, we are committed to providing high-quality products. However, due to the technical nature of flight controllers and VTX's the precision required for installation, our warranty policy for flight controllers is as follows:
 
1. No Warranty Post-Soldering: 
   Once any soldering has been performed on the flight controller / VTX's, we are no longer responsible for replacements, repairs, or refunds. The process of soldering can introduce various factors that may lead to damage, and we are unable to control or verify the conditions in which the soldering was conducted.
   
2. Pre-Soldering Inspection: 
   Before you begin soldering, we recommend carefully inspecting the flight controller  / VTX's for any potential issues. If any defects or issues are found prior to soldering, please contact us immediately for a replacement.
 
3. User Responsibility: 
   Soldering requires skill and experience, and improper techniques may result in damage to the flight controller, including but not limited to overheating or lifting solder pads. Please ensure you are confident in your soldering abilities before proceeding, as we cannot be held liable for any damages caused during installation.
 
4. Final Sale: 
   All flight controller sales are final once the product has been modified or soldered. We are unable to offer returns or exchanges on used or modified products.
